What is essential clinical care? If you’d be worse off if you had to wait until the lockdown ends, you probably fit into this category.
If you have an appointment between now and the end of this lockdown, you can presume that your appointment will go ahead if you don't hear from your podiatrist.

What is essential clinical care?
Below are some examples of the people and problems that fit into the essential clinical care category and are likely to be eligible for face-to-face consultations:
People that see a podiatrist regularly to prevent a recurrence of a more severe toenail or skin problem
People that have a medical condition that has the potential to cause foot complications (e.g. diabetes, lymphoedema, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis)
People that have reduced circulation or significant swelling
People that have reduced sensation
People that have an ulcer or have a history of ulceration
Essential workers that are experiencing foot pain that is affecting their ability to work
Painful and infected ingrown toenails
A toenail or skin problem that is causing significant pain
Fractured bones
Severe pain, swelling and difficulty weight-bearing after an injury (e.g. ankle sprain)
Significant foot and leg pain that is making it difficult to complete activities of daily living and exercise
Assistance with surgery recovery and rehabilitation
Removal of foreign bodies (e.g. a piece of glass)
Another factor that we need to consider is if we postpone your appointment will we be able to see you within a reasonable time frame. Fairfield Podiatry is a busy clinic, and we’re often booked out weeks in advance. This makes it very difficult to postpone a significant number of appointments. For many of the people that come to see us, they may be able to wait a few days, but they can’t wait a few weeks. We have a duty of care to you and keep this top of mind when deciding on your eligibility for face-to-face consultations.

At this stage, you can wait inside the clinic. Please don’t arrive earlier than necessary. You are welcome to wait in your car if you’d prefer. Just let us know when you arrive.
