It doesn't get much worse than being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Unfortunately, that was just the beginning for Terry Mitropoulos. Since 2010 Terry has had brain surgery 13 times, contracted a superbug that attacked his spinal cord and suffered a major stroke. Terry was left blind, deaf and unable to walk.
Many doctors have stated that Terry has 'cheated death'. However, when you meet Terry, you quickly realise that he actually 'beat death' with his desire to live for his family and help others who are suffering from mental illness.
Fairfield Podiatry is honoured to support Melbourne’s 'miracle man' Terry Mitropoulos as he walks from Adelaide to Melbourne starting on the 17th of August.
Terry is taking on this huge challenge (another one) to raise awareness and money for the Black Dog Institute and YMCA Victoria. The money will be used to help people who are suffering from mental illness.
Check out the links below to find out more about Terry’s extraordinary recovery journey and make a donation to Walk & Shine.
We would like to thank Dom and the team at Steigen for supplying Terry with their awesome blister-free socks for his walk.
